Epsom Hcp winner Fat Al favourite for Group 1 Railway Stakes at Ascot

November 14, 2012 By admin

Punters on Luxbet have let fly with an audacious early big to scoop the pool on Epsom Hcp winner Fat Al winning the Group 1 Railway Stakes at Ascot on Saturday week!

Luxbet’s media chief Neil Evans said Fat Al, who failed dismally in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington last Saturday, had been backed from $23.00 into $17.00 early still well before the final field is declared. “There are two separate very sharp bets of $500.00 each-way at $21.00/$6.50 on Fat Al, another of $300.00 each-way, and a stack of other bets up to $200.00 at $23.00 and $21.00 on the Gai Waterhouse-trained galloper,” Evans said. “He’s the stand-out early Railway mover, and unlike the high pressure of a Group 1 mile at Flemington, Fat Al will be much better suited around the tighter Ascot circuit where he can sit up close and dictate the speed, and zip away on the point of the turn!”

In other Railway moves, Emirates Stakes runner-up Fawkner was tried early from $6.00 into $5.00, but defending champ and impressive first-up Lee Steere Stakes winner from Saturday Luckygray remains a solid $4.40 All-In favourite on Luxbet!

Rising three-year-old Luke’s Luck is on the third line at $6.50, while further out in the market King Saul has firmed a point ($17.00 to $16.00) after having little luck in the Lee Steere.

Meanwhile, punters have charged into the appealing $2.50 fixed price about unbeaten Barakey winning the Group 1 Winterbottom, a surge of early money was headed by one bet of $3,000.00 at $2.50. “Punters like the price, but I think the flying Travinator is right in the race, and has already tightened from $4.80 into $4.40,” Evans said.

But the most fascinating early move in the Winterbottom has come for long-shot Conservatorium! “This horse has shortened from $61.00 into $31.00 after a string of bets, including one of $2,000.00 each-way at $51.00/$ 13.50,” Evans said.

And in the WA Guineas, Antique Belle has firmed early on Luxbet from $5.00 into $4.20, while Saturday winner Rebelson is $8.00 into $7.50. Luke’s Luck remains the $3.00 All-In favourite.
